U.S.A Manufacturer Takes On Asian Competitors Toe-to-Toe
“Scorpion Performance, Inc. intends to make clients think twice before they merely
assume they can obtain products at significant savings from sources primarily in Asia –
to become the go-to company to obtain precision parts at lower cost.”
      Ft. Lauderdale, FL - May 15, 2007 A thriving Florida-based manufacturing
company is refusing to concede price and quality advantages to the competitive
steamroller of China and its Asian neighbors. In fact, Scorpion Performance, Inc.,
which manufactures parts that maximize the performance of stock automobile
engines, is basing its growth plans on its ability to out-perform and undersell
overseas competitors with products made purely in the USA. And it’s working.
Founder Robert Stopanio describes Scorpion Performance, Inc. as “A manufacturer
of high performance automotive racing products – with an attitude. Our dramatic
increase in production capacity resulting from our state of the art robotic working
three shifts seven days a week, offsets the cheap labor costs of Asian products. And
our quality level is not equaled by Asian sources.” In the process, Scorpion
Performance, Inc. has emerged as the only company in its industry niche willing and
able to go toe-to-toe with the formidable competitive forces of China and its Asian
      imitators.
The massive Chinese dragon has yet to notice the potential sting of this modest U.S.
Scorpion – but the company’s American clients and prospects in the global market
are now getting the message. Scorpion Performance is an 8-year-old company that
has served its apprenticeship in a highly demanding industry, and is ready to
expand its operations substantially which further improve its ability to compete
against imports. Highly efficient production enables the company to produce its
rocker arms and related parts on a private label basis, particularly targeting those
firms who now order parts from Asia to market under their own brand name.
Scorpion Performance promotes its own branded products as “Made in America &
Proud of It”, and is offering companies presently importing their parts offshore the
opportunity to now market “American Made”.
The company has catapulted itself to become the leading firm in the Rocker Arm
category through its use of the newest machine tools and manufacturing systems.
This has given Scorpion Performance a degree of efficiency that enables it to
compete favorably with longer-established manufacturers – and to “take on” the
      competitors looming overseas.
To remain in the technological forefront, Scorpion Performance, Inc. uses the most
sophisticated and entirely robotic machinery for three shifts, seven days a week,
which enables them to produce essentially flawless parts at lower production costs.
The company replaces its automated machinery every three years to take advantage
of the fast changing innovation in machine tools. All of this enables Scorpion
Performance to compete effectively with all comers – domestic and foreign.
“There is a broad assumption that our distributors can obtain products at
significant savings from sources primarily in Asia,” Stopanio says. “We are
determined to make them aware they can accomplish the same goal with Scorpion
Performance – and attract even greater sales among their customers by promoting
products “Made-in-America” by highly skilled workers using American aluminum
and steel. Also, they will receive their parts much faster – without the red tape and
added cost of “middle men” that overseas purchasing necessitates.”
The company invites head-on comparisons with its ability to compete directly with
China and Asian sources in terms of product quality, craftsmanship, delivery time
and prices, that U.S. parts distributors are obtaining from their overseas suppliers.
Scorpion Performance will intensify its “Made in America” policy offering
competitive pricing, faster turnaround, and avoidance of dealing with agents and
buying offices — through its trade advertising, mailings to existing and potential
customers — and dealing with prospects one-on-one at industry trade shows.
Scorpion Performance, Inc. intends to make clients think twice before they merely
assume they can obtain products at significant savings from sources primarily in
Asia – to become the go-to company to obtain precision parts at lower cost. The full

From Auto Parts to Titanium Surgical Screws: All in a Day’s Work
      for Scorpion Performance, Inc.
“Scorpion Performance Maximizes facilities to keep product lines diverse.”
FT. LAUDERDALE, FL – July 1, 2007 - The Wright brothers operated a bicycle shop in
Dayton, OH that over time led to the first successful heavier-than-air “bicycle with
wings” – and spawned an enormous industry.
In a somewhat parallel example, a South Florida manufacturer of aftermarket auto parts is
finding itself producing small parts for the burgeoning medical equipment industry.
Scorpion Performance, Inc. is widely known in the high performance automobile industry
for its rocker arms and related high-precision parts. Before most Scorpion parts leave the
shipping department, they are treated to a highly polished “jewel-like” finish — then are
anodized in one of several distinctive colors – red, purple, blue, gold and clear. The
anodizing process not only adds a touch of glamour to an otherwise mundane chunk of
aluminum or steel, but adds a very thin protective coating to the part.
This process of bringing a bit of “charm” to ordinary metal parts is now appealing to
manufacturers outside of the auto industry. A series of companies who manufacture
medical equipment are seeking Scorpion’s anodizing services to add luster to many of
their parts. One result has been the creation of a subsidiary, Anodizing LLC, to deal with
      these outside firms.
The more significant result of this activity is Scorpion’s decision to manufacture medical
equipment parts themselves – as well as anodize them.
The company’s existing array of robotically-controlled machine tools are ideally suited
to manufacture hundreds of various parts for the medical industry – right down to
producing titanium screws for surgical operations. If medical companies should be
interested in gold-anodized titanium surgical screws – Scorpion can produce them at
more attractive prices because of its highly efficient tooling.
Scorpion prides itself on its ability to re-engineer small precision parts used by any
industry – and turn them out in greater volume at lower prices – given its commitment to
operating the finest machine tools available.
Having adopted the slogan: “Made in America & Proud of It,” Scorpion welcomes
comparisons on quality, price and delivery with any overseas supplier.

Scorpion Rockers are now the Industry Standard – in Quality & Price!
“Scorpion Performance rocker arms set new standard. ”
FT. LAUDERDALE, FL – July 4, 2007 - Ft. Lauderdale, FL – The nation’s leading rocker arm
manufacturer – Scorpion Performance, Inc. – insists its LS1-LS6 Roller Rocker Arms are
the very best your money can buy. Not only that, states Scorpion Founder Rob Stopanio,
it is the one line of rockers that buyers can be certain are Made in America.
“Our roller rocker arms are lightweight, assuring even greater horsepower, and they are
the quietest rocker on the market,” claims Stopanio. “They are the only Direct Bolt-on
rockers in production. That means no changing of pushrods, guideplates, rocker studs or
valve covers are required. With these advantages, the self-taught home garage tech can
truly install these rockers on his own.”
Scorpion leads the industry in its highly sophisticated robotically controlled
manufacturing methods, assuring parts of greater precision. And the sheer production
efficiencies these machine tools deliver make it possible for the company to price its
Scorpion-branded rockers very attractively, very competitively.
Scorpion products, Stopanio points out, are “Made in America & Proud of It!” So if you
take pride in treating your performance engine to “The Best,” as well as take personal
pride in “Buying American,” then you can settle for nothing less than the Scorpion brand.
The company backs its products with its new Lifetime Guarantee, unlike the short-term
      warranties offered by the competition.
Scorpion Performance is eager to be compared with imported lines of rockers – or any in
the world — on the basis of quality and price. Borrowing a phrase from Lee Iacocca,
Stopanio says: “If you can find better quality at a better price, then buy it!”

SCORPION ROLLER ROCKER ARMS USED IN CLASSIC FORD PROJECT
“Factory Five Racing MK III Roadster uses Scorpion Performance Rockers”
Scorpion Roller Rocker Arms were used in an engine rebuilt for a Factory Five Racing
MK III Roadster. This project using a classic Ford focused on horsepower while
retaining the original size of the engine for nostalgic purposes of restoration. The article
“Project Snake Charmer” by Wayne Cook in Mustang & Fords, takes us through the
      rebuild of this engine.
To replace the original big-block powered Cobra engine, the team used a Smeding built
427 Cobra Special engine to achieve high performance while retaining fuel economy.
Using some of the most advanced high performance components available, the engine
team chose Scorpion Roller Rocker Arms to complete the valve system to attain the
      highest possible performance.
Achieving just shy of 500 lb-ft of torque at 3,000 rpm, this engine provides more
horsepower at the lower rpm which gives it outstanding “off-the-line” performance while
retaining a more usable rpm range for ordinary driving. The use of Scorpion Roller
Rocker Arms provides the highest performance and reliability in achieving this goal.
Scorpion Performance Inc. is one of the largest Rocker Arm manufacturer in the US.
Car enthusiasts are passionate about using American manufactured high performance
automotive racing products. In this restoration project of the Ford Cobra engine, the use
of Scorpion Rocker Arms provides an economical solution to achieve high performance
and reliability. We at Scorpion Performance Inc. are expecting to see greater use of our
products in the restoration of classical engines in the future.

Made in America Strategy Necessitates Acquiring a 2nd Plant by Scorpion Performance
      Added: (Mon Oct 01 2007)

Ft. Lauderdale, FL ( Pressbox ) 1 October 2007 –Scorpion Performance, Inc., manufacturer of precision parts for high performance motors, intends to more than double existing output by opening a second plant late this year in Ocala, FL. Scorpion founder, Robert Stopanio, attributes the increased demand to the company’s ability and determination to outperform China and its Asian counterparts on both price and quality levels – and certainly faster delivery.

Scorpion takes particular pride, Stopanio states, in being an industry leader in its use of the most sophisticated robotically operated U.S. machine tools. “The robots run around the clock, seven days a week,” he adds. “When you can operate three shifts per day, you inevitably achieve dramatic cost efficiencies.”

A few months ago, Scorpion was capable of producing a single rocker arm from raw aluminum stock to a finished product in three minutes. Now, the newest generation of multi-spindle lathes – further tweaked by Scorpion’s engineers and reconfigured to work with a single robot – produce a finished rocker arm every minute – a 200% increase in out-put!

Since early in the year, Scorpion has been positioning the company as the manufacturer whose products are “Made in America & Proud of It” – calling the attention of U.S. private label distributors of performance auto parts now out-sourced to Asia. The response has been so positive, Stopanio says, that we have to expand our capacity to meet the demand.

“We are maxed-out at our Ft. Lauderdale facility and needed a building that will enable us to configure our robotic ‘families of lathes’ for utmost efficiency. The Ocala site will be ideal for what we expect to accomplish. Both plants are in the 30,000 sq. ft. range, but the Ocala building provides the height for an overhead crane system that we lack in Ft. Lauderdale.”

The Scorpion brand leads the industry with its principal product, rocker arms, that account for greater horsepower by regulating the intake and exhaust valves on high performance engines. At the same time, the company is looking to recapture that portion of the precision auto parts business that has wandered off-shore – whatever brand they market under.

Just how great are the overseas expenditures by automotive manufacturers? According to the Bureau of Economic Analysis, the U.S. automotive industry is far and away the greatest “consumer” of imported products. This, of course, doubtless reflects the impact of Far Eastern and European auto companies that do final assembly of their cars and trucks in U.S. plants. In 2005, motor vehicles imported $142 billion, which represented 39% of automotive expenditures for that year.

In addition, Motor Vehicle Parts at $71 billion – a separate category — ranks No. 3 among some 50 industry categories in the import derby. And that represents almost half of sales of parts in the U.S.)

Stopanio acknowledges that Scorpion represents but a microcosm of the business being “lost” to overseas sources, yet he feels just as strongly as multi-billion-dollar companies that U.S. manufacturers have to innovate and fight back on world-market terms.
